Mandatory Drill: Lock Down on Thursday October 9th
Dear Dolgeville School Community,
This information has been recently shared with staff and students - who are well informed and prepared. The District is required to conduct 4 Lockdown Drills per school year. We will conduct our first Lockdown Drill this Thursday afternoon following lunches. This drill is for practice and to provide necessary feedback to our staff and students for Lockdown drill procedures. Again, Lockdown drills are mandated by NYS and we at Dolgeville use such drills to practice, reflect and teach. We feel it's important to communicate these important points to you. Thank you in advance.

Temporary Secured Lockout

Dear Dolgeville School Community,
This morning, DCS was contacted by the Dolgeville Village Police, via the NYS Police, and were made aware of an individual in a potentially concerning mental state that is located in Ilion, N.Y. Please know there is no direct threat to schools. However, out of an abundance of caution and at the recommendation of the NYS Police, we will be operating under a Secure Lockout today in all our buildings. Under a Secured Lockdown all doors are locked, and all staff and students proceed with teaching, learning, means, and play, but indoors; with no one allowed to enter the building. We expect to release the Secured Lockout in the coming hours. Thank you for your understanding and please know that all individuals are safe, but precautions are necessary. Also, other area schools are under the same Secured Lockout at this time. We will keep you updated as more relevant information becomes available.
Sincerely,
Joseph J. Gilfus, Superintendent

Student/Staff Drop Off and Pick Up - We Need Your Help!

Dear DCS School Community,

We Need Your Help!

Due to safety concerns for pedestrians and to alleviate added traffic congestion in the parking lot we kindly ask that anyone who is picking up or dropping off students or staff to use the main loop or park in a parking space. The parking lot is not designated as a drop off. Thank you in advance for doing your part to ensure safety.

Thank you,

Today at our Dolgeville Connected School, we began our year long post high school preparatory partnership with Herkimer Working Solutions. Ms. Lisa Mang guided our students through comprehensive career assessments and they could experience different jobs through the use of virtual reality headsets! This is the second year Project Manager, Sarah Williams-Herringshaw has coordinated with Ms. Nicole Wilson to bring this amazing resource to our students! We have so many amazing things coming up each month this school year! A huge thank you to Herkimer Working Solutions team! It’s great to be Connected! #DolgevilleConnected💙 #careerreadiness #goingoutintotheworldwellprepared #weareconnected

School as Landing Zone for Life Flight Emergencies

Dear Dolgeville School Community,
After collecting accurate information from our local authorities, I feel it is appropriate to now share with you information that involved the school being used as a landing zone for an emergency rescue Life Flight yesterday evening. A Life Flight is an air ambulance service used to transfer patients facing time-sensitive and life-threatening conditions; which was the case yesterday. The school district serves as a back-up landing zone when other established landing zones are unavailable, which was also the case yesterday. Placing rumors aside, the incident took place in the Village, at a residence, and involved an adult, not a child and did not occur at the school or on school grounds. We pray for a quick recovery to the individual needing medical attention, and as a school district, we will remain a landing zone option in the future.

Thank you,
Joseph J. Gilfus, Superintendent
