Temporary Secured Lockout
Dear Dolgeville School Community,
This morning, DCS was contacted by the Dolgeville Village Police, via the NYS Police, and were made aware of an individual in a potentially concerning mental state that is located in Ilion, N.Y. Please know there is no direct threat to schools. However, out of an abundance of caution and at the recommendation of the NYS Police, we will be operating under a Secure Lockout today in all our buildings. Under a Secured Lockdown all doors are locked, and all staff and students proceed with teaching, learning, means, and play, but indoors; with no one allowed to enter the building. We expect to release the Secured Lockout in the coming hours. Thank you for your understanding and please know that all individuals are safe, but precautions are necessary. Also, other area schools are under the same Secured Lockout at this time. We will keep you updated as more relevant information becomes available.
Sincerely,
Joseph J. Gilfus, Superintendent

Dear DCS School Community,
We Need Your Help!
Due to safety concerns for pedestrians and to alleviate added traffic congestion in the parking lot we kindly ask that anyone who is picking up or dropping off students or staff to use the main loop or park in a parking space. The parking lot is not designated as a drop off. Thank you in advance for doing your part to ensure safety.
Thank you,

School as Landing Zone for Life Flight Emergencies
Dear Dolgeville School Community,
After collecting accurate information from our local authorities, I feel it is appropriate to now share with you information that involved the school being used as a landing zone for an emergency rescue Life Flight yesterday evening. A Life Flight is an air ambulance service used to transfer patients facing time-sensitive and life-threatening conditions; which was the case yesterday. The school district serves as a back-up landing zone when other established landing zones are unavailable, which was also the case yesterday. Placing rumors aside, the incident took place in the Village, at a residence, and involved an adult, not a child and did not occur at the school or on school grounds. We pray for a quick recovery to the individual needing medical attention, and as a school district, we will remain a landing zone option in the future.
Thank you,
Joseph J. Gilfus, Superintendent

TAX BILL UPDATE – Fulton County District Residents
Thank you for your patience while we sorted out the Fulton County STAR Exemption issue. New tax bills are being mailed today, 9/4/2025, by Fulton County Real Property. If you have access to the internet, you can also look up your adjusted tax bill on taxlookup.net as soon as tomorrow 9/5/2025.

Dear DCS School Community,
Please read the following as it pertains to our crosswalks for walkers:
In preparation for the reconstruction to the main entrance road to the school, which is scheduled to begin in 2026 please note the following changes:
The upper crosswalk from the high school parking lot to the bus circle is CLOSED. This crosswalk will be eliminated during construction starting next spring. All parents and students are expected to use the junior senior high school crosswalk. Thank you.
Current Main Street Construction:
Students who walk will be crossed at the Main and Spencer Street intersection. Please follow the sidewalk North towards the carwash and turn left onto Slawson Street. Remain on this side of Slawson Street until you reach the next crossing guard where you will be crossed over.
Please inform your children to stay out of the construction zone. The sidewalks on both sides of Main St. are currently closed from the car wash to the post office.
Thank you,
Joseph J. Gilfus, Superintendent

Dear Fulton County District Residents –
It has been brought to our attention that the STAR Exemption has not been applied to several tax bills. We have been informed by Fulton County Real Property that there was a system glitch which is being addressed. Please review your tax bill to verify that your Exemptions are accurate. If not, please refrain from paying your School Tax bill until this issue is remedied. We hope to have an update in the next few days. Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding.
Sincerely,
Jessica Radley
