Dear Dolgeville School Community Members,
I am reaching out to remind all school community members that we will begin our annual mandatory fire and lockdown drills. All schools are required to conduct a total of 8 fire evacuation drills and 4 lockdown drills per year; with 6 fire drills and 4 lockdown drills prior to December 31st of each year, and leaving 2 fire drills for the Spring.
Fire Drills will begin immediately and our lockdown drills in the next few weeks. Lockdown drills will include a combination of drills to include: Lockdown, Hold in Place, and Lockout Drills. Please know that we take every precaution in preparing our staff and students with such drills, as these drills serve as our practice and with the goal to teach and learn, not to frighten our students and staff. We take a very proactive approach and use these mandated drills to simply teach and prepare.
If you have any questions concerning our drills, please contact me directly at 315-429-3155 x 3500. I will always make time for you. Thank you in advance for your attention to this important topic and mandatory requirement of all schools.
Sincerely,
Joseph J. Gilfus, Superintendent
