In fifth grade, we study the following units:
Experimenting Properties of Matter Parts of Matter and Chemical Changes Energy Changes Heat Sound Work and Friction Simple Machines Ocean Adaptations
Your child needs to keep an up-to-date, organized Science folder, which will be collected at the end of each unit and graded. If your child misses a folder page because of an absence from school, he or she is responsible for copying the page from another student upon return to school. Review sheets will be given out before each test. All the material for the test is on the review sheet. If your child puts the time and effort needed into studying, your child should do very well on Science tests. There will be three major projects this year. The students will have two to three weeks to finish each project. The key to success is starting the project as soon as it is assigned, and continuing to work on it during the entire two to three week period. Parents have been terrifically supportive of our Science program in the past, and I’m sure that will hold true this year also. Thank you in advance for your help. |
