Academic Support

Any time your child scores below the level expected for his/her grade level in reading, writing, or math, your child must receive State- and federally-mandated academic support in that area.  Children needing academic support may receive extra instruction in the classroom provided by the classroom teacher, a Title I reading or math support teacher, a special education teacher, or a certified assistant teacher.  Children may also receive extra support provided by a Title I reading or math support or special education teacher outside of regular classroom instruction.  Children with academic needs also have opportunities to attend Extended Skills (our after school program) for two hours weekly from October through May, and our Summer Excel five-week summer school program.
